Transport one of the main topics of the European Congress of Small and Medium – Size Enterprises in Katowice

Publication date: 18.10.2019

Lots of panels, great discussions, bothering topics and excellent panelists. The European Congress of Small and Medium – Size Enterprises was again held in Katowice. During the meeting there was, among others a big conversation about public transport and broadly understood mobility.

This is the next edition of this important event. Katowice hosted many experts from various fields. One of them was mobility, the nature of which companies trying to use modern technologies try to shape, on the one hand, and the public sector, which builds appropriate conditions to enable development in this area, on the other.

They discussed the challenges faced by the local government, both in terms of building the right infrastructure, organizing efficient transport, and convincing residents to use it. Grzegorz Jabłek, a member of the management board of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, reminded about activities in the construction of the metropolitan railway. Not for the first time among panelists there were statements that railway is necessary for the development of the entire region and solving communication problems.

A theme that has recently been in public discourse was the concept called Mobility As a Service (MAS). This is the market's response to the growing needs of public transport users. Adam Jędrzejewski, president of the Mobile City Association appreciated in this respect the openness and authorities of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis. This is one of the key projects that the region is trying to attract and can attract new people who will put down their own cars for buses, trams, trolley buses, trains, but also carsharing, scooters and electric scooters.

Thank you to all participants of the panels related to transport for participation and lively discussion.
