The tram to Bytom is back

Publication date: 20.09.2019

The long-awaited completion of infrastructure modernization works along Katowicka Street is scheduled for next week. This means a return of trams in direct relation from Katowice to Bytom and major changes in timetables.

Over the last year on the route from Bytom to Chorzów and Katowice, habitants of the Metropolis had to choose bus lines or substitute transport. Soon, traffic on this section will return to normal. The investment in the tram infrastructure, carried out in the center of Bytom, is completed. From Thursday, September 26 this year, rail traffic in this area will be resumed, providing direct tram access on the aforementioned route.

Therefore, changes will be made to the timetables of tram lines: 0, 6, 11, 19, 23, 40, 49 together with the suspension of temporary tram line no. 46 and T-19 replacement bus communication.

Changes for tram lines: 6, 19, 49 will consist in changing departure times and restoring a permanent relationship between these lines. Tram number 6 will run between Katowice Miarki Square, Chorzów Square and the center of Bytom and the "Szkoła Medyczna" stop, while line 19 will carry passengers in the Katowice Plac Wolności - Bytom Stroszek Zajezdnia route.

Changes for tram lines: 0, 11, 23, 40, 49 will consist in correction of departure times (necessity to coordinate departures on common sections of the route) and matching of rolling stock.
