Free public transport and special lines starting for the All Saints’ Day period

Publication date: 25.10.2022

The Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM) will facilitate getting to cemeteries. The greatest improvements will comprise special bus lines and enabling on the 1st of November to travel by the urban transport for free.

As every year, for the All Saints’ Day period, the ZTM has prepared special changes in the operation of the urban transport. Depending on the day, various improvements may be used. - In this way we facilitate visiting our dead in their graves and we encourage to transfer from cars to buses. It is worth considering it, because in this exceptional period there is always very heavy traffic on the roads and cemetery car parks - says Ms Małgorzata Gutowska, the Director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM) in Katowice.

The first changes will be introduced already on the 28th of October. From this day to the 2nd of November certain journeys of individual lines will be carried out by vehicles bigger than usually. In addition, certain bus routes will be changed.

Passengers should expect the biggest modifications in the period between the 29th of October and 2nd of November. For these days the ZTM has planned e.g. to start cemetery lines. Overall, there will be 16 of them on the 1st of November. Because of additional connections it will be easy to get to cemeteries in Będzin (line C6), Chorzów (C2, C7, and C9), Czeladź (C11), Gliwice (C1, C3, and C4), Katowice (C2, C5, and C8), Knurów (C10), Ruda Śląska (C2, C9), Siemianowice Śląskie (C7), Sosnowiec (C6), and Tychy (C12, C13, C14, C15, and C16). In addition, on the 1st of November the possibility to use the urban transport for free will encourage to transfer from cars. - This is a proposal, which on that day comprises all our connections, i.e. buses, trams, and trolleybuses. The using of this option and giving up driving a car causes that we do not need to worry about finding a parking place close to the cemetery - indicates Ms Małgorzata Gutowska.

Detailed information on the rules for the urban transport operation from the 28th of October to 2nd of November is provided on the ZTM website, in the News - Messages tab. There, apart from descriptions of changes in routes of individual lines, also maps are shown, which illustrate the routes of special cemetery lines. Passengers, who on the All Saints’ Day and before plan to use the urban transport, in case of any questions can call a free and operating round-the-clock hotline (800 16 30 30).
