Major changes in the transport operation during the ‘Parade on the occasion of Polish Army Holiday in Katowice’.

The annual great event was moved this year from Warsaw to Katowice. The decision was made on the occasion of continuing over time inauguration of the celebration of the Silesian Uprising centenary. Because of that in the area of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis on 15 August and on the day preceding the final rehearsal, in the periods specified below, changes will be introduced in the tram and bus transport in Katowice.

 The final rehearsal will be started on Friday evening and will continue till the Saturday morning - from 7 p.m. on 9 August to 11 a.m. on 10 August. Whereas the main celebration, i.e. ‘Parade on the occasion of Polish Army Holiday’, will take place on the next Thursday, but it will cause changes already on Wednesday - from 7 p.m. on Wednesday 14 August to 6 p.m. on Thursday, 15 August.

 IMPORTANT! The event will require total closing for traffic of Aleja Korfantego, and streets: Chorzowska, Jagiellońska, Bagienna, Rondo gen. Jerzego Ziętka, as well as the tunnel under the Katowice roundabout.

 Numerous changes in the tram transport will apply to lines No 0, 6, 11, 13, 16, 19, 23, 36, and 43. It will be necessary to stop entirely the tram transport operation on the sections:

• from Katowice Rynek through Rondo im. Jerzego Ziętka to the Silesian Stadium,
• from Katowice Rynek through Rondo im. Jerzego Ziętka, Pętla Słoneczna, to Siemianowice Śląskie.

The operation of the following lines will be suspended: 0, 13, 16, 23, and 43, while the following lines will run on shortened routes: 6, 11, and 19

 On the section: Chorzów Rynek – Katowice Plac Wolności in the above times a substitute bus transport will be started, marked with number T-6. Buses of this line will be running with frequency of approx. 10 minutes. Detailed description of the route is provided in the message.

 Changes in the bus urban transport will apply to lines 1, 4, 5, 6, 11, 14, 18, 27, 30, 40, 43, 61, 66, 70, 72, 76, 76N, 77, 77N, 109, 133, 149, 154, 177, 193, 600, 657, 657N, 673, 800, 801, 805, 807, 808, 811, 813, 814, 815, 820, 830, 831, 835, 840, 860, 870, 908N, 911, 911N, 920, 930, 931, and 940. Most of bus lines will be running via diversion routes, missing streets closed for traffic, routes of other lines will be shortened. Detailed information is provided in the message on our website.

 Because of expected increased demand for the public transport in travelling to the aforementioned event on 15 August the public transport offer will be expanded (additional trips), carried out by tram lines No: 7, 15, 20 and by bus lines No: 297, 632, 820, 840.
