On the 10th of December the Transfer Centre in Gliwice was officially opened. The ceremony was attended by representatives of GZM and ZTM

The official opening of the Transfer Centre (TC) in Gliwice took place on the 10th of December. The ceremony focused on issues related to the urban transport.

During the event, the host of the meeting, Mr. Adam Neumann, the Mayor of Gliwice, thanked many persons, who were involved in the development of the Transfer Centre. The ceremony was attended inter alia by Mr Kazimierz Karolczak, the President of the Management Board of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM), Mr Grzegorz Kwitek, member of the GZM Management Board, and Ms Małgorzata Gutowska, the director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM). The President of the Metropolis in his speech emphasised, that this is an investment project, which required difficult decisions, but it is one of those, which transform cities.

On the day of official opening of the Transfer Centre in Gliwice promotional stands of a number of institutions were arranged in the main building, including one of the Metropolitan Transport Authority. The guests, who came for the event, were talking to the transport organiser employees about the operation of the urban transport, and received modest gifts.

Let us remind that 44 lines of urban transport were directed to the TC Gliwice. Travellers can use convenient transfers, due to which it is possible to go to various parts of the city and Metropolis. Overall, timetable changes comprised approx. 50 bus lines (M1, M14, M16, M18, M100, M104, M105, M116, A4, 6, 8, 32, 41, 47, 57, 58, 59, 60, 71, 80, 93, 112, 120, 126, 156, 187, 194, 197, 202, 224, 232, 236, 250, 259, 280, 287, 288, 617, 636, 650, 669, 676, 678, 687, 692, 694, 699, 702, 840, A4N, 32N, 60N, 692N, and 840N). It is also worth noting that from the 5th of December the TC Gliwice houses a Passenger Service Point. Passengers can handle their matters and transfer to the selected means of transport in one place.

The cost of the construction, carried out by the City of Gliwice, amounted to PLN 200 million. PLN 130 million of this amount is the financing from EU funds. This is one of biggest such investment projects in the southern Poland.
