The next, and the last, Metroline

On the working days, during rush hours, line M21 will be operating every 30 minutes. Outside the rush hours and on weekends, every 60 minutes. Buses of this line will be running from early morning hours till late evening hours.

The starting of line M21 will ensure fast connections of Bytom and Ruda Śląska, mainly districts: Halemba, Wirek, Nowy Bytom, Chebzie, and Godula, with Mikołów, Tychy, Gierałtowice, and Gliwice. It will be possible due to the coordination of the connection with line M18 at the Wygoda Skrzyżowanie stop.

Summary

- The starting of the last, and thereby closing the network of Metrolines, is the crowning of the hole process, which improved the quality of the public transport in the GZM – says Mr Grzegorz Kwitek, Member of the GZM Management Board. – Each of Metrolines brings an added value with it. Its vehicles are running faster or more frequently than the connections available before. Numerous M-s run on brand-new routes, creating connections never earlier available – he adds.

During 5 years, from 2017 to 2022, the operational work provided by the ZTM increased by 27%. To a large extent, this should be credited to the Metrolines – adds Mr Kwitek.

From May 2021, when the first 6 were introduced, finally 32 metrolines were started. On the working days, they make more than 2300 journeys, on weekends - from 1300 to 1400. Buses with letter M in the number reach all 41 municipalities, members of the GZM. The longest Metroline is line M22, which connects the municipalities of the Bieruń-Lędziny district with Katowice. The shortest is M25, from Katowice to Czeladź.

The task of Metrolines consists in increasing the availability of the transport offer till the start of the Metropolitan Railways.
