Metropolitan connections will be a project of all of us

14 express bus lines, shortening the access time to 25 centres in the Metropolis and a system of new connections delivering passengers to transfer nodes, where metrolines are going to stop - these are the main assumptions of the planned network of Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM) connections. The concept, which is a significant element of being prepared new network of urban transport, has been presented to passengers and transport enthusiast on Wednesday, 5 September, in the transport organiser’s office.

The meeting with invited guests was opened by Mrs Małgorzata Gutowska, the director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority. During a short presentation the most important aspects of the company operation have been presented, e.g. the rules and level of business financing as well as the area of ZTM services provision.

In the next part of the meeting, Mr Aleksander Sobota, ZTM Deputy Director for transport, who at the same time heads the project team responsible for the optimisation of connections network and is a staff member of the Silesian University of Technology, presented the concept of establishing the metropolitan connections in detail. In accordance with the assumptions, they are to constitute the backbone of the urban transport network. Moreover, during the presentation also a design of delivery type connections has been presented, which in the future will enable transfer between lines to interested persons. The frequency and relationships of individual connection types were discussed, among other things, during the presentation.

Workshops were the last part of the meeting. Passengers and transport enthusiasts in groups were evaluating solutions and offering suggestions, which could improve the urban transport operation in the field of metropolitan and delivery connections presented preliminary by the ZTM. Representatives of the team responsible for the optimisation of connections network emphasised, that suggestions offered by the attending guests will be considered from the point of view of their validity and implementation possibilities.

The Metropolitan Transport Authority wants once more to thank all the guest, who attended the meeting. Employers of the transport organiser emphasise their gratitude for the devoted time and subject-matter consultations.
