Buses with numbers instead of characters
Three bus lines, which routes pass through Tychy and Bieruń, will change their symbols. From the 24th of February the letters L, R, and W will be replaced with numbers 565, 514, and 531, respectively. There is still a lot of time till the introduction of this modification, but the information campaign, due to which the passengers are to learn about that, already starts.
The ZTM press spokesman clearly emphasises that only the line symbols will change. – We want to make it clear: not a single departure time written in the timetables will change, and not even one metre of those lines’ routes will change – emphasises Mr Michał Wawrzaszek. – Apart from renaming the lines, everything remains ‘as of old’. The change consists only in replacing the hitherto characters with numbers – adds the spokesman.
The information campaign will be carried out, e.g., by the field information staff, who at selected stops will be answering the passengers’ questions. In addition, in the initial period after the change introduction, the buses of lines L, R, and W will be running with double symbols, i.e., the hitherto one – characters, and the new – numbers. This is intended to facilitate planning and travelling for passengers.
– The reasons for this change introduction are simple and directed at the good of all passengers, also those with disabilities – indicates Mr Michał Wawrzaszek. – Firstly, we unify the system of symbols. The bus lines in the area served by us are marked with digits or numbers. While the characters are assigned to trolleybuses. We want to finish the lack of consequence in this field, initiated still by the previous transport organiser. Secondly, such consistent line symbols increase the clarity. Now, it will be more understandable for all passengers, and primarily for persons with intellectual disabilities and visitors – adds Mr Michał Wawrzaszek.
