New, cheaper tickets

On 1 March 2020 primarily ticket prices, appearance, and types will change. Passengers will be capable of using both paper and electronic tickets.

The former will comprise the following tickets:

• single-travel/short-term: entitle to travel by all lines of public transport organised by the ZTM, except for journeys by express lines to the airport. These are tickets: ‘1m/20min’, ‘2m/40min’, ‘Network/90min’, and ‘Luggage’. These tickets may be purchased in a paper version at kiosks, service points, ticket machines, and from the vehicle drivers (only tickets Network/90 min),
• medium-term: include ‘24h + Airport’ ticket - valid for twenty four hours, entitles travelling by ZTM lines, including express lines to the airport, and ‘Daily’ ticket entitling to travel by all ZTM lines till 23:59 on the activation day, it does not cover express lines to the airport. 24h + Airport ticket in the paper version may be bought from ticket machines and from vehicle drivers, but only on the airport  lines (AP). ‘Daily’ ticket in a printout form is available only at ticket machines,
• group: ‘Group for 5 persons’ tickets - based on them maximum 5 persons can make one journey by ZTM transport lines. These tickets do not cover express lines to the airport. This ticket in a paper version may be purchased only at ticket machines.

Electronic tickets will comprise:

• single-travel/short-term: entitle to travel by all lines of public transport organised by the ZTM, except for journeys by express lines to the airport. These are ‘1m/20min’, ‘2m/40min’, ‘Network/90min’, and ‘Luggage’ tickets. It is worth remembering that single-travel e-tickets are cheaper than their paper counterparts - buying this version one can save from PLN 0.40 to 0.60 per ticket. Electronic zone-time tickets are available for a ŚKUP card and in mobile applications .
• Major changes were introduced in the distance tariff (the fare depends on the number of travelled kilometres) - it was substantially reduced. A journey on the shortest section costs now only PLN 1.60 (PLN 0.80 concession ticket). The fare in the distance tariff can be paid only by a ŚKUP card - from the e-purse. The card account should be charged with a selected amount and when entering and leaving a vehicle we should remember about placing the card at a reader each time. Then we will pay only for the travelled distance,
• medium-term: these are ‘24h + Airport’ and ‘Daily’tickets. In the electronic version tickets are available for a ŚKUP card and in mobile applications .
• long-term: these are ‘7-day’, ‘City 30’, ‘City 90’, ‘Network 30’, ‘Network 90’, ‘Network 120’, and ‘Network 30 bearer’ tickets. Names of these tickets were simplified, also the price of most popular 30-day ticket covering the entire ZTM network was reduced.  A new 120-day ticket was introduced to the offer. These tickets entitle to travel by all lines of ZTM public transport (apart for journeys by express lines to the airport). They are available only for a ŚKUP card,
• ‘Airport 30’ and ‘Airport 90’ tickets will also be still available, entitling to travel by all ZTM lines, including express lines to the airport. In their case the hitherto prices were also reduced They are available only for a ŚKUP card,
• NOVELTY! Multi-journey tickets: are marked with symbols: „W-20”, „W-40”, and „W-80”. They entitle to a specified number of travels (twenty, forty, or eighty, respectively) during 180 days without a possibility of transfers. Available only for a ŚKUP card.
• group: these are ‘Group for 5 persons’ tickets, in the electronic version available in mobile applications  and for a ŚKUP card.

Vehicle drivers will continue to sell tickets for three cities or 90 minutes from the moment of validation (‘Network/90min’).

The new tariff is primarily a more flexible offer, introducing a more diversified fare system. We encourage to test the distance tariff, in which prices were substantially reduced, and also to familiarise with newly introduced solutions - a ‘Daily’ ticket (valid till midnight on the activation day) or a 120-day ticket, which will allow to save even up to PLN hundred by persons who regularly use season tickets.

Tickets with the division into tractions (30-day for bus and trolleybus or tram) were withdrawn from the offer. Instead, the price of a 30-day network ticket for all means of ZTM transport (buses, trolleybuses, and trams) was slightly lowered. Also the prices of long-term airport tickets were reduced.

Multi-journey tickets are sheer novelty in our offer - definitely most flexible among the available long-term tickets. Each of them is valid as long as for half a year, passengers choose themselves, whether during that time they plan to make 20, 40, or 80 journeys. The ticket validity expires at the moment of using up all journeys or after 180 days from the date of purchase. Using these ticket one can pay for a single journey already from PLN 2.25.

Also group tickets are a new solution. From 1 March a group of 5 persons can buy one ticket for a single travel - both from ticket machines, and in an electronic version for a ŚKUP card and in mobile applications. In the introduced document also the rules of selling tickets for participants of cultural, scientific, educational, sports, and mass events were regulated.

With the new tariff taking effect also new patterns of single-travel paper tickets will be effective. They will have the hitherto dimensions, but their appearance will be entirely different - they will feature a vertical orientation.

Single travel paper tickets purchased before 1 March will remain valid after the tariff change. These tickets can be used according to rules so far till 14 March this year. After that date they will also entitle to travel, however, each time so-called supplementary tickets of 10 grosz face value will have to be purchased - so that the total price of previously purchased and supplementary tickets would comply with the binding tariff.
