Trams are coming back to 3 Maja Street in Chorzow

The degree of modernisation works in 3 Maja street allows to return the tram traffic in this section. Other works, carried out at former Huta Kościuszko, result in the traffic suspension between Metalowców street and Rynek in Chorzów, due to which line No 11 is not operating. Therefore a temporary track connection is originating in the west - north relation, which will enable trams running along 3 Maja street to turn left, towards Bytom (and vice versa). 

We obviously refer to trams of line 10, which will start running along 3 Maja street on Monday, the 23^rd of January. The connections will be carried out in the Ruda Śląska Chebzie Pętla - Bytom Szkoła Medyczna relation. The traffic restored in this section means at the same time the suspension of substitute bus transport T-11 and of tram line 56.

It will be possible to plan the restoration of tram traffic towards Katowice after the reconstruction of the track system between Metalowców street and the flyover. Passengers will then gain a new comfort of travelling due to a new tram track, but also a modern stop infrastructure with raised platforms facilitating getting on and off. The Metalowców stop will be moved to the south, into the area of Pl. Powstańców Śląskich, and integrated with the bus stop towards Bytom, and due to the pedestrian tunnel also with the bus stop towards Katowice.
