2. MAX TICKET fare

On Transport GZM’s public transport services, you can travel using monthly tickets issued by Koleje Śląskie as part of the MAX TICKET fare scheme. Depending on the type selected, these tickets cover travel on all Koleje Śląskie and POLREGIO trains within the GZM area, as well as on Transport GZM public transport services. There are four types of MAX TICKETS available, in both standard and concessionary versions, in accordance with the statutory concessions applicable to rail operators:
1) 1 Town (119 zł standard, 59.50 zł concession fare) – valid within a single selected municipality on Transport GZM public transport, and in the case of a town within the GZM area where there are at least two railway stations, also on Koleje Śląskie and POLREGIO trains.
2) 2 Towns (149 zł standard fare) – valid on Koleje Śląskie and POLREGIO trains, as well as on Transport GZM public transport services, within two selected neighbouring municipalities located within the GZM area, in which there are railway stations.  
3) 3–6 Towns (189 zł standard fare) – valid on Koleje Śląskie and POLREGIO trains within an area comprising between three and six adjacent municipalities belonging to the GZM, in which there are railway stations, and additionally across the entire Transport GZM public transport network.
4) Network (PLN 249 standard) – valid on all railway lines operated by Koleje Śląskie and POLREGIO in the GZM area and on the entire network of Transport GZM public transport.

In the case of discounted MAX TICKETS, Transport GZM’s public transport services recognise entitlement to discounted fares in accordance with the statutory discounts applicable on the railways, with the exception of the 100% discount. Consequently, a person who purchases a MAX TICKET concessionary ticket and, in accordance with the Koleje Śląskie Tariff, is entitled to concessionary travel, may use that concessionary ticket to travel on Transport GZM services, even if their entitlement to the concession would not apply had they purchased a ticket for public transport.

Tickets under the MAX TICKET fare scheme are available at Koleje Śląskie ticket offices, on trains, from ticket machines, as well as online via the website and through mobile apps. Further details can be found on the Koleje Śląskie website – https://www.kolejeslaskie.com. Tickets are not available through Transport GZM’s sales channels.

PLEASE NOTE: MAX tickets issued by Koleje Śląskie are monthly tickets, whilst Metro tickets are 30-day tickets.

3. Fare and ticketing integration with PKP Intercity

30-day Metro tickets entitle you to travel on all PKP Intercity trains (including Express Intercity Premium) within the GZM area, on railway routes covered by the Metro ticket's validity. To travel on PKP Intercity trains, passengers do not need to make any additional free reservations in advance of their journey, nor do they need to report to the train crew at the start of their journey. During a ticket inspection on a PKP Intercity train, passengers must display, via the Transport GZM app, a QR code showing the ticket’s valid travel range and validity period, or a paper confirmation of purchase if presenting a Metro ticket via the Metrokarta, together with a document confirming any entitlement to a concession (except where the passenger has a confirmed concession in the Transport GZM app). On PKP Intercity trains, the entitlements to concession fare travel set out in the GZM Transport Tariff are accepted.

At the same time, the scheme also covers people using long-distance connections. Any passenger holding a single-journey PKP Intercity ticket (from outside the GZM area to the GZM area or vice versa) is entitled to a free journey on Transport GZM public transport for 120 minutes before the departure of the PKP Intercity train from a station in the GZM area or for 120 minutes after arrival at a station in the GZM area. Within this time frame, passengers may travel with changes. In the event of a delay in a train’s arrival at a station within the GZM area, the 120-minute period is counted from the time of actual arrival, which must be certified by the PKP IC conductors’ crew.

This means that, when using public transport, you only need to carry the aforementioned PKP Intercity ticket, either in paper or electronic form, and, if applicable, a document confirming your entitlement to a concessionary fare journey. On Transport GZM’s public transport services, the entitlements to concessionary fare travel applicable on the rail network are recognised (with the exception of journeys with a 100% discount).

NOTE:
1) Journeys on PKP Intercity trains do not require seat reservations, except when travelling with a bicycle, in which case the seat reservation is free of charge (provided the reservation is made in advance, e.g. at a PKP IC ticket office).
2) PKP IC charges an on-board fee of 20 zł for issuing a booking on the train for a passenger travelling with a bicycle. No charge is made in the cases specified in PKP Intercity’s regulations. If there are no seats available for passengers travelling with a bicycle on a PKP Intercity train, the ticket clerk or conductor may refuse to issue a seat reservation. Bicycles cannot be carried on the replacement bus service. The carriage of luggage, bicycles and animals is free of charge upon presentation of a valid ticket, subject to the other conditions set out in the PKP IC regulations.
3) If there are no seats available on a PKP Intercity train where seat reservations are compulsory, the conductor may refuse to allow you to travel.
4) This offer is not valid in the Quiet Zone or in 1st Class.
5) Passengers who use tickets valid on EIC and EIP category trains are not entitled to refreshments.

4. Deviation from the Price List due to the long-term redevelopment of the Katowice Railway Junction

A passenger holding a ticket issued by Koleje Śląskie or POLREGIO may, in accordance with
and subject to its period of validity and scope of validity, travel on Transport GZM public transport, provided that one of the following conditions is met:
a) the route specified on the ticket covers only the area affected by changes to transport services resulting from the redevelopment of the Katowice railway junction;
b) this is a non-route-specific ticket (e.g. a network ticket, a tourist ticket, a REGIOkarnet);
c) it is a ticket issued for travel on a train operated by Koleje Śląskie or POLREGIO on a shortened route, i.e. from/to the station to which the train service has been shortened, in accordance with the current list of changes to train services available on the Koleje Śląskie or POLREGIO website.

5. Joint tickets with MZK Jastrzębie

On Transport GZM’s public transport services, you can travel using the 30-day tickets issued by MZK Jastrzębie: M1, M2 and MS. These tickets are available at standard and concessionary rates in accordance with the eligibility criteria set out in the MZK Jastrzębie Fare Schedule for Passengers and Luggage:
1) M1 (208 zł standard, 104 zł concession fare) – valid on public transport operated by MZK within the municipalities of Czerwionka-Leszczyny and Knurów, and in one selected town on the Transport GZM public transport network;
2) M2 (232 zł standard, 116 zł concession fare) – valid on public transport operated by MZK within the municipalities of Czerwionka-Leszczyny and Knurów, and on public transport operated by Transport GZM in two selected towns;
3) MS (264 zł standard, 132 zł concession fare) – valid on public transport operated by MZK within the municipalities of Czerwionka-Leszczyny and Knurów, and across the entire Transport GZM public transport network.

M1, M2 and MS tickets can only be purchased via one of the following mobile apps – Zbilet, SkyCash, moBilet or mPay – through the organiser, MZK Jastrzębie. Tickets are not available in Transport GZM sales channels.

6. On-demand transport at night in Sosnowiec

From 1 July 2025, for a pilot period, passengers holding a valid Transport GZM long-term ticket have been able to use the night transport services organised by the municipality of Sosnowiec and Sosnowiecka Sieć Szerokopasmowa sp. z o.o. at no extra charge. 
Free journeys are available every day between 23:00 and 05:00, which covers the full operating hours of the night-time on-demand transport service in Sosnowiec. Journeys under the ‘Transport on Request’ scheme are limited exclusively to journeys made using long-term tickets (valid within the municipality of Sosnowiec), and therefore does not include R-1 tickets or entitlements to free travel under the GZM Transport tariff.

Night-time services do not operate according to a fixed timetable, but are provided on request via a special, dedicated app. When placing an order, users select from the available list the stops where they will board and alight, as well as the time of departure or arrival at their destination. Transfers are provided by a minibus with a capacity of up to 9 people. The app specifies the time at which the vehicle will arrive at the specified stop. Depending on traffic conditions and the volume of orders coming in, the time is updated on an ongoing basis. You can book your journey 24 hours in advance. When passengers board the vehicle, the driver uses Transport GZM ticketing equipment to check their validity for travel.

7. Joint tickets with ZGKiM in Sośnicowice

From 1 August 2025, passengers holding medium-term and long-term tickets from the Transport GZM scheme (covering the municipality of Sośnicowice) may travel free of charge on routes 1 and 2 operated by the municipality of Sośnicowice through the Municipal and Housing Management Board (ZGKiM). In order to travel on the above-mentioned routes, passengers must show the driver proof of a valid ticket. In the case of an e-ticket, it is presented via a mobile app or a Metrokarta. In the case of a paper ticket, the passenger must present the ticket; however, if using a paper ‘Day’ ticket, it must be validated (to start the period of validity) in advance on Transport GZM public transport vehicles.

On ZGKiM routes, entitlement to concessionary fare travel in accordance with the GZM Transport Tariff is recognised. If a passenger holds a concessionary ticket, they must carry a document entitling them to the concession during their journey (this does not apply to passengers whose entitlement to a concession has been verified in the Transport GZM system and who can show this in the Transport GZM app). The entitlements to free travel under the GZM Transport Tariff do not apply.

SUMMARY OF TICKET ENTITLEMENTS:

Mobile applications enabling to buy tickets via a mobile phone: Transport GZM and SkyCash, mPay, moBiLET, zBiletem and jakdojade.

Pasażerowie mogą korzystać z dwóch rodzajów automatów biletowych - Stacjonarnych Automatów Doładowania Kart oraz automatów zasilanych energią słoneczną (automaty solarne). Podróżni do dyspozycji mają łącznie ok. 250 urządzeń.

The offer is addressed to organisational units of municipalities - members of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis - and to the other event organisers. Tickets entitle to travel by all lines of public transport organised by the ZTM, including additionally express lines to the airport. They are dedicated to participants of events attended by at least 50 persons. Tickets are sold based on a contract concluded with the ZTM, which also specifies tickets distribution rules and form. A possibility to purchase an entitlement valid up to 12 hours is allowed - the value of the entitlement is calculated as 50% of the price stated per 1 person. Detailed information on this offer is provided in the ‘Tariff for persons and luggage transport in the public transport organised by the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM)’.

From the beginning of 2018 children and youth up to 16 years of age and living in the area of member cities of the Upper Silesian - Zagłębie Metropolis can use the transport free of charge. The entitlement can be used only based on the concession encoded on the ŚKUP card. Apart from the aforementioned concession, entities, referred to in § 9 of the Tariff for persons and luggage transport in the urban transport organised by the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM), are entitled to concessionary and free journeys.
