concerning the breach of personal data accessibility due to the ŚKUP system failure
Dear Sirs,
Referring to the information provided by the Metropolitan Office of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (UM GZM) about the performed hacker attack on the servers of the Silesian Public Services Card (ŚKUP), the personal data in the claims module have been encrypted.
Based on the obtained information there is no confirmation of personal data leakage of persons using the ŚKUP claims module. The Personal Data Controller of ŚKUP users on the 10th of February 2023 notified the President of the Personal Data Protection Office of the occurred breach of personal data accessibility.
What are possible implications and risks?
Because of the occurred event we indicate implications of the breach of accessibility to your personal data:
- impossibility of using the funds collected in the e-purse on the ŚKUP card,
- no accessibility to data contained on the ŚKUP card,
- impossibility of issuing ŚKUP cards.
What should be done and what steps have been taken?

At present the work is ongoing to restore the accessibility of personal data as soon as possible.

W piątek 14 sierpnia 2026 r. Punkty Obsługi Pasażera oraz biuro ZTM przy ul. Barbary 21a w Katowicach będą nieczynne. Pasażerowie będą mogli korzystać z infolinii ZTM (tel.: 800 16 30 30), która będzie funkcjonować bez zmian.
